CLEARANCE GUIDE

Preparing for a house clearance

A little preparation makes a clearance easier to plan. Start by separating what stays from what goes, then show the collection team the whole job.

Household rubbish ready to be cleared from a property
01

Decide what you are keeping

Set aside personal documents, photographs, valuables and sentimental items. Make the keep/remove distinction clear before anyone begins loading.

02

Photograph every area

Take a wide photo of each room or storage area and closer photos of unusually large items. Include stairs, doorways and the route to the vehicle.

03

Flag anything unusual

Mention electrical appliances, upholstered furniture, heavy objects and unfamiliar materials. Keep paints and chemicals separate rather than including them in general rubbish.

04

Agree access and the finish

Confirm parking, keys, who will be present and what the quoted finish covers. A clearance is not automatically a deep clean or repair service.

05

Get the scope in writing

The quote should explain what will be removed and any exclusions. If the amount changes before the visit, tell the business so the price and arrangements can be updated.

The work, exclusions and any job-specific requirements will be agreed for your property.
